Freddie Gray in the hospital after surgeries attempting to save his life
Exactly what is it about being conservative that makes one want to lie about young black men who have been killed by police?
Soon after Ferguson teenager Mike Brown was killed by Officer Darren Wilson, conservatives insisted that Mike Brown had a lengthy arrest record. One conservative declared that Brown had been arrested for second-degree murder and began a lengthy lawsuit for records to prove it. They were all lies. Instead of allowing a grieving family space to mourn, Brown's family was forced to speak out and defend his honor and declare that he actually had no arrest record at all.
To this very day, Fox News has refused to retract this story in which they falsely claimed Brown broke the orbital socket of Darren Wilson.
Mike Tobin joined Shep on Shepard Smith Reporting today to give the most recent updates from Ferguson, including details on these reports of severe injuries to Wilson.
Tobin, citing The Gateway Pundit, said Wilson was hit hard enough by Brown to break all the bones around his eye, an orbital blowout fracture to the eye socket, although The Gateway Pundit's source within the Prosecuting Attorney’s office cannot be confirmed.
But, as we now know, Wilson didn't even have a hairline fracture in his pinky or anywhere else on his body. These were all lies.
Now, the lies have begun about Freddie Gray, who died after being arrested by Baltimore police. Popular conservative Baltimore radio shock jock, Bob Marr, stated:
“I’m hearing that Freddie Gray may have sustained an injury himself while fleeing from police on March 20th, 2015. What I’m hearing is that in order to try to elude police, he jumped from a window, possibly as high as three stories,” said Marr.
In case that lie wasn't enough, Marr went on to state that "he heard" Gray ran into a wall and severed his own spine that way.
These are lies are ugly.
At their root, these lies are told to create a false narrative that makes police look like saints who are being victimized. Ultimately, the Baltimore police, much like the Ferguson police, make room for these lies to be told by stonewalling for days, weeks, and months and refusing to refute negative reports that favor their version of events while publicly refuting negative reports that make them look bad.
