Supreme Court: Nader off PA Ballot
Sat Oct 23, 2004 at 05:00:04 PM PDT
Sorry Ralphie, one more state for you to bitch and moan about. Too bad the republican efforts to get you on the ballot in Pennsylvania fell just a little too short.
The Supreme Court has rejected Nader's final attempt to get on the ballot in PA.
AP: High Court Won't Put Nader on Pa. Ballot
WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court on Saturday refused to place independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader (news - web sites) on the ballot in Pennsylvania, upholding a state court finding of flawed signatures on voter petition sheets.
An open letter to the DIARY POLICE
Thu Oct 21, 2004 at 11:52:21 AM PDT
First, a few facts:
Diaries are being posted at a rate of almost 3 per minute and 500 per day (Meteor Blades' numbers). I can't read them all, can you?
I have a life outside of this website, do you?
My last 2 diary postings have been met with the following comments:
- This has been diaried before, didn't you check?
- You should abide by the community rules of 'good diary etiquette.'
- Online polls are frivolous, so don't diary them.
Responses to The Crawford Iconoclast Endorsement of Kerry
Sat Oct 02, 2004 at 04:24:08 PM PDT
After Bush's hometown newspaper, the Crawford Iconoclast, recently published an editorial endorsing Kerry in the upcoming election I was curious as to what response they had received. I decided to contact the paper and sent them this email:
I am curious as to what response you've had to your endorsement of Kerry for President.
Has it been generally positive or negative?
Can you relate specific instances that may stand out from others?
Do you have any numbers as to how many letters, emails and calls you have received?
Delay's Sheep go Baaa Baaaa Baaa
Thu Sep 23, 2004 at 04:13:00 PM PDT
I've written lately about the district Delay is in: a republican majority who are either completely unaware of the indictments, or worse yet, know but could
care less about them and
still plan to vote for him, whether or not he is actually guilty of anything at all.
Well, the Houston Chronicle made the rounds in Fort Bend county and unsurprisingly found the same results here.
Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?
Wed Sep 22, 2004 at 03:34:50 PM PDT
Have you noticed that when Republicans are pinned down on Iraq, they inevitably fall back to their favorite position: "Isn't the world a safer place without Saddam Hussein in power?"
(If I hear it again, the giant pulsing vein in my head will explode.)
Of a Tiger's Stripes and Sheep

Spider Jerusalem wrote a
great diary that ended with:
But the majority of the other passengers were incapable of applying logical analysis to a statement, and rallied behind the bus driver.
And therein lies the crux of the matter: the remaining undecided/independent/can't-make-up-their-f'ing-mind-if-they-were-paid to group is not a group of voters who are persuaded by logical analysis and articulate arguments. Rather, they are almost wholly driven to a decision by media messages in combination with the dreaded 'likability factor.'
McCain has lost ALL credibility
Sun Sep 05, 2004 at 06:47:30 AM PDT
I admit it. I had a begrudging respect for John McCain at one time. I even thought that he wouldn't make a half-bad President, although I still would have voted for Gore had McCain gotten the nod over Bush. (Though there were other valid reasons, for me it would have come down to one simple issue: Supreme Court appointees.) In fact, I still believe that had McCain got the Republican nomination in 2000 the last 4 years would have gone far differently. (I know, not a big stretch, eh?)
I didn't even mind it when McCain began stumping for Bush. Why? Because as a dyed-in-the-wool Conservative, he really doesn't have a choice.
When he slammed the SBVT bullshit, it only re-enforced my belief that he was still somewhat of an independent thinker who is not afraid to call the issues right or wrong as he sees them.
No longer.
